ASD's Annual Cyber Threat Report describes a complex and challenging cyber threat landscape for Australia, with persistent state-sponsored targeting of government, critical infrastructure and businesses, alongside pervasive ransomware and data-theft extortion. ASD responded to over 1,100 cyber security incidents and answered more than 36,700 calls to the Australian Cyber Security Hotline (up 12% year-on-year), and for the first time used autonomous cyber sanctions against Russian cybercriminals. The report highlights the role of partnerships, the Essential Eight, and secure-by-design technology in building national resilience.
